old Martin Lynx- please help!

Hi Hunt-WA-  So I usually do muzzleloader for deer and elk, but this year work scheduled a week-long trip for me smack in the middle of early muzzy elk. So I went out to the garage and found my old Martin Lynx (1992 or so model).  I had it re-cabled in 2004, and never shot it much after that.  So a few questions for you tech-savvy archery guys (like RadSav):

1)  Is it reasonable to shoot it one last year?  (I shot four arrows from it the other day, and seemed to shoot fine)
2)  Can I put a Whisker Biscuit on it instead of the original spring rest?
3)  Would it be possible to use an arrow release with this bow instead of fingers?

That bow should be modern enough to use the biscuit and a release aid with no problem.  Reset the tiller to even, and the nock height to 90 degrees, and go for it.

I put the original whisker biscuit on an old Martin Lynx I had. Worked just fine. I also had new cables and string put on it, had a d loop installed and shot it with my release. I'd say have a d loop put on it and shoot it!

Thank you!  I've decided to go for it.  The D-loop is a great idea.  I think I'll be able to get it to an archery shop soon, and get it all outfitted.

I've got a same era cougar speed flight that i used up until last year, with a biscuit and a release and it was a pretty sweet shooter

Machias, I killed my first game animal (cow elk) at age 24 with this same Martin Lynx.  Waited five nights in a tree stand for the elk herd to swing by!  Hopefully I can take one more cow elk before I retire this bow for good.

Martin Lynx Magnum with the Energy Cams here. Its my fishing bow now. I order a new string every couple years. Keep an eye on the limbs for delaminating. Mine did years ago and they were replaced free of charge. Shot lots of deer and my first and only cow elk then I retired it to fishing only in 2003., Good luck on your hunt!

Thanks Huntincouple!  I will keep an eye on those limbs- I do travel through Walla Walla occasionally and might just drop in on Martin if I get a chance to have them glance it over. 

As for the hunt, I'll sure need luck- I predict the elk will humble me like they usually do- but I will have a great time with friends in the mountains anyway!
