I also have a little lightweight tent that you could use. Its the one I had set up and stored gear in at elk camp last year.

I need one the wife and I can fit in and for her comfort a floor is needed for the first adventure I plan to take her on.
The thought with the a frame was that I could leave the poles at home to save weight and make some in the woods with branches or rope tied to trees to hold the peaks up. But I have no idea if that's possible, I guess depending on the tent it could be. And the only other person that would sleep in there with me would be the wife so being close isn't a problem. Adam, not happening with you, sorry.

But I also have a new thought in my head for an early bear hunt that you might need that tent for yourself.
Poles aren't that heavy or space consuming. I'd much rather have poles with me than have to hack up sticks or rely on finding a place to pitch where you can tie it up in the trees. I think you'd have a lot more structural integrity with a tent using the poles it was supposed to use. Now...you could use hiking poles probably if you're hiking with them. That's a good dual purpose usage. I always use poles.
