I believe that by WA state law, importing or transplanting grizzlies is illegal.

Good thing the gob mint would never do something illegal, like facilitate the sale of sport utility rifles to transnational criminal organizations....

I think they save the law breaking for the really big stuff - gun sales, incursions into friendly countries - you know, stuff like that. The state law was passed (and please tell me if I'm wrong), because the Wildlife Commission and several legislators didn't want the USFWS bringing these beasts into NF of NP land  from where they might move into state or private land, endangering our state's citizens. Bigtex, you around somewhere on this?

If I remember a post by Bearpaw correctly the USFWS illegally used the Pittman Robertson Act funds for wolf reintroduction.  >:(

I have a place on the east side of the river in that area.  Did you ever figure out which side it was on?

Yes, I believe you're correct. But remember, the state worked along with the USFWS in the wolf plan. In the grizzly plan, that's not so.

I have been told its grizzly rehabilitation area for problem grizzlies from Yellowstone so thats pretty awesome....................... :yike:

That's definitely not true.  No one is moving bears into this area.  There are six collared bears up here as part of a research project, but they were captured here.

Those bears range a couple hundred miles . I was told there has been 39 confirmed bears over the years. I've had one run in and that's enough for a life time.

They don't have all of them collared.

Looks like I have to get a larger defensive carry weapon for while I'm out and about...

That said, last thing want to do is shoot a grizzly. They are amazing. Top apex predator. I wouldn't mind seeing one, but wouldn't want to have to kill one in defence of life or property....
