Finally! Trophies back from my 2012 Safari
« on: May 11, 2015, 05:03:34 PM »
After 2yrs 7 months of waiting, they are here!  (most of that delay was spent sitting in Zimbabwe waiting for someone to put a stamp on a piece of paper to get them moving...)

Limpopo region of Zimbabwe in 2012.  Terry Anders of Savuli Safaries was my PH.  I added 7 new trophies to the room:

-Cape Buffalo
-Warthog (the one in the mud hole)
-Blue Wildebeest
-Zebra rug
-Vervet Monkey
-Klipspringer
-Bushbuck

The rest are from my 2007 trip to Namibia.

I live in a pretty small house so it is getting pretty cramped in that room!

I should note that Jerry Huffaker of Abilene Tx did the work.  He is a true artist.
http://huffakertaxidermy.com/

Also, he is using a shipper who specializes in moving mounts called Trophy Transportation.  Reasonable shipping charges, and they delivered them into my house.  Much beter than DHL who ran a forklift through my crate last time, then had the gall to say "they don't make crates like they use to".

Great looking mounts, I like all of them, but there's something extra interesting to that warthog backed into his mud hole.  Also, your zebra pedestal is really a neat way to do the pedestal.

I like pumbaa and timon the best, plus look like you gave the monkey some relief from his ailments.  :chuckle:

I am going to have SO MUCH FUN with that monkey mount.  He is going to show up in the strangest places!

The Impala and Zebra Pedestal are from my 2007 trip.  The zebra is still my favorite!

I'm really happy with the warthog.  I asked Jerry to model the WH after this photo I found on line.  I think he nailed it!

Oh yeah...  one more thing...

I had a special "pouch" made out of my cape Buff...  (that;s a 375 H&H shell on top of it...)

Thinking I might keep my pipe and tobacco in it. My dad had one made and is keeping golf balls in it...

Clearly there is something wrong with me!

I keep forgetting the little extra bits...

I also had tusk replicas made for my warthog and put them into the skull so I could have both a mount, and a skull mount.  I think it came out great.  Here are the Vervet and Baboon skulls too.

Also, here is a shot of the zebra rug.
