Well, sucks for that guy. If they come after guys on here for posting pics, I don't know why they wouldn't go after guys that post them in magazines. It's a stupid law, but it's still the law. If the guy is a biologist for the state, he's got no excuse, he should know better.

He is not a biologist for the state and just moved backed to WA.

Didn't the OP say he was a fish biologist for the state.

Didn't the OP say he was a fish biologist for the state.

He is not.
That is what he said, but that's not an accurate statement.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

Is it bad that my first thought was, "the ticket would be worth it if I got video of me arrowing a giant buck like that!!!!!"? :chuckle:

On a more serious note..................................does anyone still have a pic of the guy with the flashlight on his stabilizer?  That thing is solid gold and I haven't seen it in a while :peep: :chuckle:

I can't understand how some are for only following the rules they deem ok  :yike:

can you not see a scenario where the footage of the shot is used to see if it was a hit or not and then how that can change the next step in recovery or hunt... :dunno:

Complaining about or writing about ticketing this guy is ridiculous. A GoPro on a bow is zero advantage. In fact, it's probably a disadvantage. Some of you guys need to get a life. GoPros probably were not even invented when this law was written. This hunt in no way violated the spirit of the law.

I think a whole bunch of folks need to take a deep breath.

From memory, I believe the the rule is "no electronic devices of any kind on the bow....." (or something like that).  I agree with most of the posters: A GoPro, or any other camera device, is no hunting advantage.  Stupid rules should be repealed.  But isn't this a teaching moment?  Why not work to modify the silly rules?

We now have a new director at WDFW.  Times are a'changing, I tell you.  Send your requests to the department or to the commission, and get the rules changed.

In the meantime, breathe deeply.  Only 3 1/2 months to wait.

After posting this i thought to my self would i do this? if i could get away with it then yes. This is why i bought a gopro in the first place so i could record my hunts and fishing trips. Then i read the law and found out i couldn't  put it on my bow. I personal would not turn this guy in for points it is one of the dumbest rule we have any more with bow hunting. We do need to change some rules in this state and all of us hunters need to voice it to wdfw to get them changed.

It is a dumb rule, hopefully the law is changed to allow them in the future. It is to bad his go pro messed up and he didn't get video of his kill.
