Oregon Antelope
« on: May 14, 2015, 11:46:59 PM »
Who is putting in for Oregon antelope and how many points do you have? I am hoping we will finally draw with 17 points this year.
If you can see it....... you can shoot it.

I'm putting in but don't know why, I burned up all my points last year in the Juniper unit. Oregon antelope can be tough. Was a great hunt though but it's no Wyoming.

I'm at 12 but don't plan to draw. I started applying before I knew about a state called "Wyoming". It takes 15 years to draw in Oregon what you can do in Wyoming just about every year.

One and done when I'm drawn in OR.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

16 points for antelope, been saving up for South Wagontire Unit for many years.  Use to be a great unit, and my brother knows the area well.  I noticed a only 5 tags this year & last, got to wondering why?  Found some info on Ifish, apparently antelope population has crashed in that unit, bios say from huge coyote population. So I'll likely be looking for a new unit to draw next year.   :(

It's not just that unit from what I hear. I'm not sure how much of a part the coyotes are playing in that but I did see a lot of coyotes in the Juniper unit.

Maybe the drought had something to do with it as well. I know antelope numbers are way down in Wyoming because of the drought.

I think coyotes and other predators really put a hurting on the fawns.

Makes sense...

I put in but don't plan on drawing as I just started. Only have 2 points and from the sounds of things here I may be wasting my time putting in at all  :dunno:

It may be worth it if you're applying for deer and/or elk anyway. I quit a few years ago when the prices went up. I've got 12 antelope points but don't know if I'll ever use them.

I'm in the same boat. Used up my elk. Don't remember how many deer points I have but I have a chunk of lope points sitting each year. I draw way more tags in Nevada anyway  :chuckle: I'm pretty lucky there for whatever reason. Oregon got expensive for the quality of the hunts. I'd like to apply again someday but nevada has kept me busy enough

Anyone know when the draw is?  I looked on the website and couldn't find any information.

They will post by June 20. That lands on a Saturday so it will be by the 19th this year. They seem to post with in a few days of Washingtons results.

You can access the answer to just about anything in life by typing it in google. But the computer generated draw results take a month... Im thinking of running for fish and wildlife commish strickly on the platform of quick draw results. 😁

I think you should pay then go to a screen where you spin a slot machine type of wheel that instantly shows you what the results are.
