Where to Fish in Pullman
« on: May 15, 2015, 02:10:19 PM »
I just have a lightweight spinning rig with some trout bait and some cat bait. Is there anywhere to fish for a couple of hours in Pullman?

It runs right through town. Access should be good. Never fished it. Let us know how you do?

Only thing in it is squawfish (northern pikeminnow). Grew up on the outskirts of town by the waste water treatment plant, a couple dozen worms and catch all I wanted. Catch them on any type of spinner as well but I usually used old rooster tails. Other than that the snake river down at wawawai. Bass from the shore with worms not very big tho.

Yup snake river for bass and I would guess catfish too. Pampa pond for trout about 45 minutes outside of Pullman.

:yeah: can't believe I forgot cats and sturgeon as well. Below lower granite dam for these. Been about 12 years since I fished them but right below the dam was good for cats and there's a hole also by Boyer park that use to have cats in it. Down closer to the Almota grain elevators was good for the sturgeon. Have seen a couple reports on washingtonlakes.com that had people still catching them there.

Trust me you can catch cats with a light spinning rod. I've caught them up to 10 lbs with my ultra light rod with 4 lbs test that I use for crappie and bass. You'll just not be able to horse them in is all.

I was wondering the same thing.  My daughter is over there right now at an FFA state conference, is getting ready to start school at WSU soon and she LOVES to fish. I will be watching this thread to give her some ideas on where to go when she gets over there for school.
