Hey everyone, Im not a taxidermist but I absolutely love it. Im always looking for something a little different and here is something.

Its a do it yourself shoulder mount extension that could add a degree of uniqueness to put you ahead of the competition. :drool:

Ok, if that link doesnt take you immediately to a page talking about deer or elk "extensions" then click that tab at the top of the page.

Its a way using plywood to add like 3 inches of body to the shoulder form and it looks easy and the mounts look really good to me.

what yall think?

The elk extension is realy nothing new to me I have sean it befor.  They are used when more antler clearance is needed.

The Deer extension looks good but will add a good bit of weight to the form.  If it were me I would have done it a different way using more foam to decrease the weight.

Ya maybe on the weight. I just havent seen it before. I liked it and thought id share but if you dont care I see how it is... :P

Im just always looking for any way to squeeze a few more inches on the wall...  I dont know anyone that needs antler clearance for deer...I wish...and my poor lil elk aint gonna knock the ceiling out either :P

I see what ya mean for weight. How would you get the foam without ordering like a half size form? much more expensive and all?

It's still going to cost extra for me to add an extension to a mount.  I'd put it together kind of like the elk but fill it with compressed foam.  That will take a lot of the weight away.
