BEAR CAVES ?
« on: May 15, 2015, 10:28:56 PM »
Last time out at the property I noticed 4 different caves up on the rock cliffs , as discussed last season Im a beginner with this bear hunting i have inherited with this new piece of hunting property, are these caves were all my bear are or do I have a kitten problem, they are good size openings and looks like they are accessable with dirt trails and stuff on steep slopes, just wondering what you guys think, this bear thing is pretty concentrated and if these caves are where they are at im basically not sleeping alone, litterally !! :yike:

If they are bear caves/dens you should find tappen (fecal plug) on the trail rather close to the dens.  If cats you should be able to smell the urine on a hot day before you even get close to the entrance.  Sounds like a fun place to put a trail camera
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

Im assuming that there mountain lion dens, especially if there on a rocky face. But also as mentioned many diffrent animals could be using them for shelter.

OOOH BOY,went out to put up the game cam on the cave area,im glad to report well glad to report at all,,,,,that stuff is slick and steep, almost took a slide to that hard stuff at the bottom and I don't bounce like I used to so I wated for the chopper that never came while I held all the rest of the blood in my leg, well any ways in the familiar words GET TO THE CHOPPAAH !! anybody got one of those things I need some shots of these cliff critters, all kinds of scat and im not sure but when I fell and couldn't let go of the ground I thought I did get some kind of urine smell from the one below me, or that could be the smell of shock not really sure or admitting anything I hope. :chuckle:

Don't be surprised if it is just small fury critters and a few with wings.  Most animals don't like to sleep in an area with on one escape route.
