Nice Rosi in velvet
« on: May 18, 2015, 06:59:59 PM »
Seen him Sunday morning, this is as much as I could see before the wind gave me away. I can't wait to see this guy at full growth this year.

I'm curious about the setup too... I'm taking fuzzy pics with my iPhone up to the eye piece of my spotting scope. May be time for something new.

Thanks for the comments guys and I'll keep you updated too. And these pics I got were from my iPhone through the lens of my compact Nikon bino's. They seem to turn out pretty nice! Here is another shot I took of a bull last year through the same set..

YEARS ago I read a story in either Bugle or more likely Grey's Sporting Journal (AWESOME mag, BTW) about hunting elk in the western WA jungle like that.  You photo of the hard horned bull looks exactly like what I had pictured all those years ago.  So cool!

I remember the author explaining how he would run the elk down, bump them, run them again, bump them, and eventually he'd catch them resting a bit too long and whack one.  Had a photo of a MONSTER with a HUGE club drop tine.  super cool!

That's exactly how I finally put myself in a position for a shot on quite a few bulls in the '80's and very early '90's when still able to hunt the Nooksack herd.

That's a young man's game now......... :P
