bino harness
« on: May 22, 2015, 08:49:44 PM »
Ive been searching for the right bino pack. I've looked at the badlands, kuiu, fhf, and the Alaska guide creations.I'm really leaning towards the Alaska guide creations. Has anyone ever ran one of these? Or can recommend a good one. Thanks

Talk to BMcox86. I think he might have one of everything.

I have used the Alaska guide creations, Fhf and badlands bino harnesses. Out of all three I prefer the fhf but all three work well.

I've heard great things about the fhf,but I've also heard it's not 100% waterproof

Weather can definetly get in the sides but the lenses will still be protected. Fhf has a lower profile and the lid has a quick and silent release with shock cord compared to the Alaska guide creations is a bit bulkier due to the pocket in front and it has a plastic buckle to secure the lid which can create some noise when securing the lid.

I have had the kuiu harness for two seasons, for the most part I love the size, weight and ease of use.  But they do not keep out all the elements, I have pine needles and other stuff in the bottom of my case all the time.  It's not water proof either. fyi

I am in the market for bino harness cause the elastic cheapos drive me nuts.  They dont keep your.binos close to your chest.  Fhf or kuiu is what Im getting.

I have owned and used the bino bro from Oregon pack works, the kuiu, and the fhf.  All work but currently running the Fhf with integrated range finder pouch.  Not too worried about waterproof as they will be put away if it is raining that hard or that wet.

I have the Alaska guide creations one and the FHF one, the AGC one is big and bulky compared to the fhf one which is more stream lined. If you want to carry more than your binos then the agc is the way to go, if you want something small that won't get in the way the fhf one is the ticket, I have the rangefinder attachment also on my fhf.
With the agc one the binos are not attached to the case, with the fhf one they are but you can easily unclip them to use on a tripod.

AGC could use some better marketing for sure or even a website that functions!

Jaret is redoing his website currently. Patience. He makes a great AMERICAN MADE product and is a great guy as well. If you ever get the opportunity to meet him, you'll be in good company.

The AGC Bino harness with the basement pockets and hydrator bladder holder is a great scouting/short hunt combo.

I use lockdown s4..it holds them tight and keeps them clean. Its not full enclosed like Badlands. Badlands seems like a backpack its so big.

I have a FHF with 2 Nimrod range finder pockets attached, one on each side. One is for a range finder, the other is for Misc stuff. This set up holds as much extra gear as the ASG but is lower profile and quieter

I went from the stock neck strap, to a FHF which worked well but didn't fit my ideal so bought one of these,

http://www.rickyoungoutdoors.com/estore/shopexd.asp?id=51

It is lighter and has less plastic to make noise. I know the elastic will wear out at some point which I understand could be a deal breaker or a guy. I would go back to a FHF if ricks doesn't out perform, FHF is good stuff.

I've used the Sitka system for the past two seasons.  The zipper binds and drives me crazy so I just leave it partially open and rely on the magnets to keep it "closed".  I do like how it rides and it is low profile.  I find it pretty comfortable and it keeps the strain off of my neck so will continue using it for another season or two.  Previously I used a Nimrod harness that didn't ride well for me and led to neck strain.  I've considered giving the AGS or Kuiu a try next.

I use the lockdown S4 system which has been great.  I have thought about trying one of the other systems  and like the looks of the FHF system.  I have to see them in person before buying them though.  Its tough to decide when you can't try them out.

Hey, that's two minutes I don't need to spend on making something I can buy for $25. And support a guy who took a little time and effort to create a product that is made in America, I did more right there than most congressmen do in a whole term.  :chuckle:

I had a badlands Bino harness but switched to a Kuiu one because of it being lighter and not as warm on my chest during summer scouting and archery season. What I liked about the badlands which was also mentioned above is that it protected my glasses from all the elements. I'm constantly cleaning my glass with lens wipes now that I have the Kuiu harness. Both have worked well but I think I might use my Kuiu harness during the summer and archery season and my badlands harness for fall hunts to keep my glasses dry. Badlands harness gets so dang warm. Just my 2 cents. Hope you are happy with your choice

Badlands all the way.  I have one of the smaller Cabela's Outfitter Camo ones w/a Vortex Viper 6x32 in it and two of the larger ones w/a Nikon 8x42 EDG and a 10.5x45 Nikon Monarch X in them and they have been worth every penny I paid for them.   Before our Polaris Ranger was stolen I would toss my rifle and bins in the bed and never one time has dust gotten inside.  They have been waterproof enough that I have never had a problem with the binocular being fogged up on the west side and they have stood up to a lot of crawling over deadfalls, through wire fences etc.

I have given two as gifts and both recipients cannot thank me enough.

Anyway, that is my experience with the Badlands.

Nimrods are great

I was just going to say I DONT like them. I have the bino harness and the bino bag. The attachment points  on the bag allow too much movement and the harness sits too high on my back. I do like the material and craftsmanship. Ive been told I'm pretty picky so take it for what it's worth.
I'm leaning toward FHF.
