This flock has been growing everyday.  I have gone from 2 to about 50 in the last week.   I had a real cool site this weekend but didn't get any of it on film.  They were flying and hovering right outside my back slider and sitting on my rocks.

I've seen quite a few doves around here in a couple different areas. Really surpising with as cold as it's been.

I saw a half dozen lone doves on my drive between Pullman and Tri-Cities this past weekend on the Pasco-Kahlotus Road. I was shocked to see so many.

The dove population in Washington State is blowing up. No one has quite been able to explain why. However I talked to one state biologist who speculated that it had to do with a change in the crops grown in the state (tons more wheat) and a decrease in harmful pesticides used on those crops.

I hunted dove in Arizona five years in a row. Some of the fastest and most exciting shooting I've ever partaken in. If we're lucky one day we might be able to do the same in Washington.

The shooting on opening day in Washington is always lights out...limits are too low, usually limited out within 1/2 hour...but it all depends on finding the right field.

I have seen more doves lingering this year than any other as well. Always gets me a little excited to see them.

I was pheasant/quail hunting outside of zillah last weekend and had a flock of 300 or 400 come over me. I've never seen that during the september season. It was unreal. A camera would have been sweet.

Are they eating on your place or just roosting there/both?  Either way they are into something around there!  My neighbor drives truck and the pigeons are everywhere eating whatever hay/ect. falls to the ground.

I haven't seen them eating at all.  They fly away when I feed and mostly I just see them roosting in the willows above my house.  THey may swoop in later and pick some grain up if there is any left from the sparrows, quail and any other bird that is around, but i never see them around my pens.
