My uncle (Gamblin' Guy) also said that. Says I killed someone's 4H project, and every time we see each other, I get asked if I found the poor little kid looking for his/her pet.

I think that is what my boys refer to as a Kitchen goose/duck..lol aka Pet! Do you not identify your birds before you shoot them?????
Seems odd you'd be asking WHAT you shot after you shot it...??

My best guess would be an immature Spec. I have not seen a snow (or blue)  with yellow legs.

Inbreds should not be a protected species...that's how we got Bucoda.  :chuckle:

Could be. Snow geese have orange legs.

Was it swimming next to a water fountain when you shot it?  :dunno:

I think they are called Brown Normandy's.

I think it is more likely a spec but I don't think that because of leg color. Juvenile snows are often gray in color and I thought perhaps it might have been a blue snow goose but probably not since a spec seems more likely.

Yeah. Was on the goose call at a passing flock, and they were locked in to a field further on up the way, following them was a flock of ducks. Got on the duck call, and two of these flew in. I downed one with one shot (shell got stuck while ejecting) and the other got away. It looked like a goose coming in, but responded to the duck call.

Pretty sure that's a rare protected "Tree Duck"  that probably got lost and flew off coarse during the snow storms.
