I decided to take Bobcats advice and bought a pair of the Leupold Yosemites from Amazon.  Got them over the weekend and am very impressed, especially for the price.  I seem to go thru a lot of binos., always leaving them out in the rain or snow on my deck or just plain loosing them.  I'll keep these as a spare pair at the house, but they seem so nice and clear I may actually take them out on a hunt.  Binos are like measuring tapes to me, can't ever seem to find em when you need em because I'm always laying them down in some strange place. Thanks for the recommend Bobcat!

Gents, followed the thread. After looking at the various models, went with the Alpen shasta ridge  in 10x42. Compared them to the leupold McKenzies. Alpens were on sale at Costco for 99.99. sale goes till 6/21.
They are a nice set for the price. Very happy with them. If I was going to carry in the field more, would have went with the leupolds. Specs say a 4 oz difference in weight.

I've used my 10 x 42 Vortex Diamondbacks for the past two years and have been very happy with them.   Great value for the money - I'd buy them again.....

I  bought a pair of vortex diamondback 10x42's  for me then a couple months later bought the  Leupold Yosemites for my wife as she liked the compact  size....  they are both great  i actually almost like hers better  I  would not  feel disadvantaged  with either  one
Yet while we were still sinners Christ died for us.
