How Close is too Close?
« on: May 28, 2015, 05:02:27 PM »
Ok this is one of those things you remember for the rest of your life! So I'm over in Idaho on a Solo DIY Spring Bear Hunt. It was early and I was tired today so instead of checking my bait I drove down the road and parked by a gated road and took a little morning nap. I awoke to a scratching sound and thought it was a gray jay on the roof. It was this guy:

Figured he was last year's cub and recently out on his own. I let him walk but I really wanted to get a color phase bear.  :dunno:

This could have been a legendary bear hunting story. Here's how I see it. The first photo you pull out your .45 with 230 gr. hydra shocks do one of those trick shots using the rear view mirror pointing the handgun backwards using the mirror to find your target! Every things backwards, but you compensate. Perfect heart shot! Bear loads it self. You drive off. You would be in the road hunters hall of fame... Or you broke a bunch of laws and need a new tailgate. :chuckle: :chuckle:

I was able to turn around & take a pic thru the back window. This would have been a 3 foot head shot but I like your story better.
