so let me see if I have this right you have 20 points accumulated for quality deer or elk that is 20 times (using this years cost) 13.70 plus the cost of your license so if you do get drawn this year than means you license to hunt that deer or elk cost you $391.00 for just the license and if WDFW could actually manage the game species instead of being a nanny organization of only allowing so many people in the woods during the season you would of had your quality der or elk years ago.

13 elk, 13 deer.
I still can't believe I haven't drawn a deer tag :bash:

No offense but would you feel the same way if you were not going to be done buying these apps after you drew?No because if that many went to the highest point holders as was already said it would never come around to the guys that have say 15 points right now.Why because according to what a lot are saying 10s of 1000s of Washingtonians have 16-20 points right now.and with only a small % of tags the highest tag holders will never be the ones with 15 today. That being said,What number of points would you put into the highest points category or do you mean the actual highest number (20).All other numbers are not the highest point category until all others before them are gone?just want to have it right thats all.
people will still apply if 25 or 50% of tags go to the highest point holders.

I just looked at last years quality results.help me out here make sure i understand how the system works.
                                                thanks

310 applied for quality in the blues
   there were 70 tags
average points for those selected was 5.4 points
50 were selected as there 1st choice
20 were selected as their 2nd choice. From what I see there really is no need for 3rd or 4th choice so That part of the poll is just useless wont make any change.
70 tags put out average 5.4 points that puts 9040 names in the proverbial hat.
anyone that has more than the average points, say 17.has 289 names in the hat.Ok now thats 10 times the average.Yet still cant draw for that particular hunt.

If you want permits to go to the highest point holders, we need to switch to a preference point system.

But for as few permits that we have compared to the number of applicants, I like our system.

What I don't like is all the extra categories they added just so they could sell more applications. But I've gotten use to it and think I can live with it.

25% is not that high of a number guys.  If there are 10 tags given out and you round up, 3 tags out of 10 will go to the highest point guys.  7 tags are in the pool for everyone else, you can do the math for 50% but 50% wasn't that popular on the voting.  It's all for not anyways, I doubt these options will go anywhere even though they may slightly increase the odds of drawing and in some cases increase revenue.

If you hold out tags for the highest points, it will make it literally impossible for anyone not in the top two or three points numbers to ever draw.

Say there are 10 tags a year held for the highest points and highest points is 20.  You won't ever burn through the 20's to get to the 19's or less.  So, if you sit at 10 points today it is pretty much game over.

The high points system only works when there are enough tags to clear the high number every year.  Sure, you get the one in a million chance of drawing the at-large tags, but your odds just went permanently down unless you have max points.

I honestly think WA has about the best system out there given the number of hunters vs animals.

You guys are forgetting about the other 7 tags in my example with 10 permits.  Only 3 tags in this option would go to the max point guys, the other 7 go to anyone, so how do you say your stuck forever?

Basically the 95%+ of people who apply will never have a chance at those top 3 tags.  Those applicants and all future applicants would permanently have their draw odds cut by 30%. . . Just because someone applied for 2 or 3 more years when you're talking something like 20 vs 17 is hardly reason to doom everyone below with a 30% reduction permanently.

Some in all choices, but unlike a lot of folks who have the same amount I don't feel that the count equates to an entitlement and should be selected before anyone else.   :dunno:

How about we choose between putting in for draw tags or getting an otc tag every year?  If you had to make that choice what would you do?

I'm sick of people thinking that pts equal tags in this state.  If you want that system apply in CO.

That would be a tough choice. Probably depend on what I've draw in other states. BUT I'd rather not have to make that choice and just live with the current system.
