Seek outside 4 man tipi vs Kifaru 4 man tipi
« on: May 29, 2015, 12:48:03 PM »
Hi everyone,
Does anyone have any experience with one of them, which one is better?
I know that  Seek Outside is a little bet chipper than Kifaru, but at this point money is not an issue,
Seek has more features to offer like two doors, storm flap , vent.
Any help will be appreciated.

The new mega tarp coming out from Kifaru is suppose to have have dual access and much easier set up as well. I'll be running that this fall with a Kifaru smith stove.

I think for a more comparison the kifaru sawtooth and a 4 man is more apples to apples.  The mega tarp is a great set up and the new one is going to be a little different.  I just purchased a sawtooth and haven't received it yet.  But it weighs over a pound less and is taller.

No experience with either of them, but having done my research on both, I would purchase the Seek Outside.  I think that Kifaru set the bar for tipis, but Seek Outside has raised the bar with the features it offers which Kifaru doesn't (zipper cover, sod cloth, etc.).

I recently went through the same analysis, but for the 8 man versions of Seek Outside vs. Kifaru.  I went for the Seek Outside bundle.  I like how the stove assembles, the double doors, and the sod skirt.  Definitely liking it.

Bought a used 4 man Kifaru tipi for last year.used it on a backpack hunt into the Rimrock unit for 4 days.  I would call it a 2 man tipi because thats all your getting in there buy the time you add gear, stove, wood and anything else. I thought it worked great. I bought a 16" titanium goat stove. To big. I need a smaller one. takes up room and it got so hot i almost slept outside. Make sure you get the liner or you and everything will get wet.

Craig , my first thought was to go with kifaru tipi, i change my mind after i did some research.
SO has more to affer like storm flap over door zippers, one vent at the top, sod skirt.

My research has shown that a 6 man is a better fit with a small stove.

So I'm probably going to get the 6 man SO bundle package for my brother and I ( possibly the occasional 3rd person) so can one guy easily carry the entire tipi and stove (including pipe) and his own gear/food for like a 5/7day trip? The weight looks reasonable, just curious about the size of things for space.. Thanks.
