Cool gun. He must be a pretty talented metal worker. Devil's advocate here. Even if you're doing it for your own use, is it legal to manufacture your own firearm without some special license? What about the requirement for a serial number?

For personal use you are allowed to manufacture your own firearm. I believe this firearm is non-transferable. No serial number needed (hence the 80% lowers for ARs and 1911s). If you're at all interested, look into these. You'll spend several days.
Pretty cool but is anyone paying attention to 594? Not in my world.

I did see someone post on one of the buy/sell FB pages the other day that someone couldn't produce a CPL and was a felon and not to sell guns to them. It was like a blast from the past... I was thinking "Why would someone be asked to show a CPL to buy a gun... it doesn't matter anymore."So... I'm thinking there may be a pretty large world where it no longer matters.

I asked for CPL proof on a sale so I wasn't wasting my time or the FFL's time. If I ran into a guy trying to buy who couldn't I would've posted the same.

All we are missing are the 59.00 AMD 65 kits that Tapco was selling years ago, and those had barrels.

A guy at work mentioned having seen that before...
Isn't this like what our founding fathers did, when the British took away guns and metal to make guns?History never changes.
These are my very first three builds
You can buy kits that start with a flat piece of sheet metal that you have to bend and heat treat.

I would be doing a little research before offering to help anyone build a gun, especially after I594. It's perfectly acceptable to build your own... key words being "build your own". There have been cases where people were having others finish the 80% lowers for them, and it didn't work out so well for either party.
People have had visits from ATF for letting people use their mills to finish lowers. Big boy rules here, just being friendly.http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showpost.php?p=10982758&postcount=1
