Any whitewater kayakers in SW Washington?

I've been lake kayaking for a couple years, but I keep finding myself longing to try the whitewater.  I just bought a 6'9 on craigslist a couple days ago, but after some rational thinking and checking out a few youtube videos, I realize that heading out and kayaking 'lone wolf' isn't exactly the wisest move. 

So I'm looking for a group that gets together in SW Washington and wouldn't mind a straggler on a 'beginner's' trip. 

I've got lots of hours on lakes in a kayak, but zero experience on any sort of moving water. 

I probably won't be available until early summer, but I'm looking to make connections.

Imlooking for this weekend 3608242824 no experience but i know first aid and how to swim.

I'll keep that number.  I suddenly got very busy at work and had to put the kayak on the storage rack for an open weekend.  Hopefully sometime this summer.

Make sure before you tackle any whitewater you have your roll down.  I recommend taking a class and taking a basic swiftwater rescue class.  Not only do you need to know how to rescue yourself but you need to know how to rescue your partner(s).

Agree, a whole lot better if your buddy can get to your boat while contemplating the waywardness of fate in a low oxygen environment. 

Used to kayak a lot, but I accidentally got better at fishing.  Now I'm putting Mr. Gamakatsu's kids through college.  Could meet sometime though, have first aid, CPR and swift water rescue certs, used to guide whitewater oar and paddle boats.  Have two whitewater kayaks.

I did seven miles on the Washougal last weekend, and decided that wasn't for me.

Now my kayak is on CL.  Anyone interested?  :chuckle:
