I have 2007 Diamond Black Ice?
« on: June 10, 2015, 10:29:11 PM »
I'm still using my the same string I wax it every 6 months it still shoots 255 fps. When I got it shot 262 fps. Should I worry about changing the string. Where should I have my string replaced if I need to?

Need to be more specific than Western Washington if you need to know where to go to get a good custom string made.

I would definitely get it restrung!  Need to get it done now before the good shops do not have the time as hunting season closes in.

Top string makers that are members of the site:  Denton @ Rock Creek Archery, Enumclaw - Cory @ xXx Archery St. Helens, OR.

Good service stores on this side would be darn near all of them :chuckle:  I like Riverside Archery in Mt Vernon, Archery World in Vancouver and most of my Olympia area friends go to Lucky Shot in Chehalis.  But really I can not think of a bad Pro-Shop on the westside anymore.  I'm sure I missed a number of them that would treat you very well even if they purchase factory strings instead of making them.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

Denton has made custom strings for both my bows and my wife's bow.   Great strings and awesome service at Rock Creek Archery.

Has anyone gone to Wilderness Archery for any services? Is it crazy that my string has lasted 7 years? I use Black lightning wax and it keeps my string almost like new! Thanks for the info. What about turning limb bolts down to relieve the tension after the hunting season is that necessary or does it matter? Does anybody use QAD Ultra-Rest Quad Hunter drop away rest do they work well? Appreciate any input. Thank you!

Looks like you are chasing 2% accuracy over a number of years from different chronometers.  2% anything is pretty darn good if you ask me....  I think you are chasing ghosts.  That said, it sounds like it's been a while since you had a new string.  A new string and tune are probably in order.  The piece of mind alone will tighten your groups.

Cheers

Wilderness Archery is the Closest Bow Tech dealer to you. He can order you up stings if he doesnt already have them.

Riverside archery Is a little farther south and they make custom strings in house, any Color combo's you want. I had a 3 color string made for my crossbow recently. Im currently debating if i should get a new mathews string or a custom one for my switchback.

Waxing does help preserve your string and serving for a long time, but if you shoot a bunch youll wear them out.
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.
