Montana Archery Success!!
« on: September 17, 2007, 11:28:47 AM »
Hey fellas......wasn't exactly sure were I should post this Elk, Deer, Archery....just went with the popular one lately.  So I spent last week in Central Montana huntin' Elk, Deer, and Antelope with my bow.  Awesome week.  Experienced a little bit of everything.  Gotta love Montana!!

I was fortunate enough to take this dude on my last day there with actually about an hour of day light left.  I was seeing bulls everyday, but gettin' in on em' was pretty tough.  They just were not bugling or coming in to bugles like I thought they would be.  It was pretty much a first thing in the morning and last thing in the evening show.

Anyway....pretty happy with my first Archery Bull......

The only real bummer was having to take all the pictures in the evening.  There would've been some pretty sweet backgrounds with that country I was in.

I was able to drop it off at one of the local butchers the next morning on my way out of town.  I'll figure out a way to get the meat home later.  Gives me an excuse to go back there.  ;)

Like I said the Bull was on the last day....but I was also able to take this guy on my third day.  Actually recovered him the next morning.  Long story!

The last thing on my mind when I went back there was killing a Whitetail.  I've never killed a Whitetail before and they don't really excite me too much.  Big ol' Muleys are my passion.  But......I got a look at this guy, and when I realized he was still if full velvet, I had to go after him.  So after almost 24 hours after I shot him here are the pics......

Also my first Archery Whitetail.....

When you got 3 tags to fill in 6 days and all you brought was your bow.....I gotta say I feel pretty lucky gettin' two P&Y animals out of it.

BTW.....When I shot the Whitetail I found my arrow still in pretty good shape......as it went clean through it's neck (part of the long story).  Anyway, I cleaned it off a bit, resharpened the broadhead, shot it a coupla' times and decided it was flying good.  So, believe it or not, I shot that Elk with the exact same arrow I shot the Deer with a coupla' days earlier.  Only after the Elk it was broke in half.  Kinda cool.

That is awesome with a bow, even with a rifle that would be awesome. Hope you saved some animals for me.

Congrats on a couple of nice trophys!  Where abouts in Central Montana were you?
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.
You are never to old to learn something stupid.
