I've always wanted to shoot something BIG with the 338.  So if not hiking a long ways I'd probably go with that given the choices listed.

Though I would sure like to hear an Savora tipped arrow SMACK the rib cage of a big bull moose!  Hoping that will happen some day before I die.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

I'll use a 2 blade Zwickey in front of a 520 grain arrow out of a 54# ACS Longbow
The mountains are calling and I must go

Your choice should be the gun you are most comfortable with.

Best of luck on the moose tag👊

Well there is always what a few of your constituents from the west side chose. Bring all of it and then you will just need to hire either a few caddies, or gun bearers and packers. Also don't forget the Film Crew!!

When I draw this year I am thinking bow.  Then when I find that big un I will back off and grab the .243.
It's a TIKKA thing..., you may not understand.

 :yeah:
I think a moose tag calls for an addition to the stable! A 375 would fit right in with your other bang sticks!
:yeah:I would use my 375 Ruger Guide Gun with a 300gr. Nosler Accubond.
Nothing like a Remington model 700xcr.

Use your .270, that's what I'll use if I ever draw

I shot mine with a .270 Win. loaded with 130 grain Barnes TTSX bullets.  One shot and he went about 5 yards and dropped, which if my math is correct, is 35 yards less than Bowhunter's bull he shot with with his .338.  :chuckle:  They aren't as tough as elk, so don't worry too much about it.  Just make sure you have a clean shot and put it in the right spot.  I actually wish I had gone ahead and used one of my .257 Roberts.

Bobcat, I just saw that you're headed to the Loser's Lounge, just like me.  I guess your choice has been narrowed down to Nikon or Canon.   :chuckle:  Sorry, had to say it.

Good to hear that a 270 will work, but I guess this thread can now be removed since I didn't draw a moose tag.   :bash:

Oh well, maybe next year.

Dad will be using the 6.5 x 55 and I'm seriously considering carrying my grandfather's old 30-30, or the 32 special.

"grandfather's old 30-30"      I think that would be really cool.
