I am going to go with the 30-06 with the Barnes 180 grain for my trip to Idaho. Just got the custom turret for my scope and went with the Barnes factory loaded ammo.

.30-30.....sneak up to about 50 yards.....tuck that one round right in the sweet spot....Mr. Moose will walk about 15 yards and you can watch him tip. Oh, and film it please. No scope, open sights.

Shoot it with a .30-.30 right between the eyes because it's probably going to be a cow.

I'd be fine with an antlerless moose tag.

I'll let you use my .338 if I can come with on the hunt.

Since .45/70 wasn't listed then .338

YorkeTransport would probably recommend like a 50BMG with a couple of scoped .460 S&Ws on the hips in case of a charge.  :chuckle:
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

I think a moose tag calls for an addition to the stable! A 375 would fit right in with your other bang sticks!

Why would you use a 180 gr Barnes in the 30-06?  Use 150 gr or 168 gr Barnes, but the 180 would be going awfully slow in the 30-06.

That said, use the 338 WM and 250 gr Partition. :twocents:

I thought you had a bow, Bob?

If not, then the muzzleloader. That or a .257 Roberts.

I'd consider the bow. That would be cool. But for that I would've wanted to hunt early, when bulls can be called in. I only applied for late hunts.
