Bird taxidermists.  If you are, can you ask them for ideas on what to use for these waddles.

Fun???  Sounds like my worst nightmare.

That is the thing of all taxidermy that I fear the most.  Sort of like the IRS in tax season.

I saw an article where they were using dyed rags or teri cloth maybe. For that on grouse, but of course thats a much smaller version.  Don't suppose any of you taxidermy.net folks want to ask.

Not a taxi, but the texture of those wattles sure reminds me of the small dense natural sponges my grandmother used for pottery.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

thats is a nice looking silver, but i did one my pa raised not to long ago and i did the same thing michelle metinoned and that was to make a mold, but i also would try and not to paint the waddles red, cuases them to look plastic looking if you know, i would just try and pull the waddles out with pins, then tick clay in behing=d the waddles and but a clear over them befopre they have time to dry and turn a off color red-orange not sure if this will help buit ill call my godmother down there at the san berdino museum and ask her what she thinks, she knows a lot more bout bird taxi then me, since she has many more years of experinces

Thanks Run, that is a Silver Pheasant.  He is "wild" at my place.  Meaning he comes and goes(sticks pretty close to the feed bucket).  An escapee that I let stick around.  He now has a mate but loves to stand next to the pens and harass his captured buddies.  I tried doing one of his captured buddied but I messed it up royally on th ewaddles.  I think I will undo it and use it as a cape for fly tying.  I thought I could use epoxy and add enough texture to it but it turned out miserable plastic looking.  I had another bird I was going to try again on, but the neighbors dog got it this fall along with several others.  I was PISSED.

Bone,
My question is does the neighbor's dog still look lifelike?   ;)

I was kind to this one.  Actually captured it and hand delivered it.  He gave me $200.  The birds altogether were worth way more.  I let himknow he would  be killed next time.  I always believe in warnings and accidents happen.
