I have always dreamed of eating sheep backstrap so I planned on barbecuing it in camp once I got one. I have to say it is amazing! Very mild and delicious!

I stuffed it with sauteed onion, garlic and blue cheese crumbles with a lite salt and pepper.

Then finished it with a bacon wrap!

The sides were fresh green beans cooked with bacon pieces and onion and  red garlic mashed potatoes

Correct me if I'm wrong but Selah Butte really isn't known for trophy quality rams but with that being said we seen a ton of young rams a few nice ones with a lot of potential! Here is a picture of one and would it be a shooter?

Congrats on a great Ewe! Sounds like you had a great hunt and the backstraps look amazing. I'd call that ram a shooter for sure, but I haven't seen many yet.

Well done and extremely nice story and pics.  Thanks for sharing.  I was there today but didn't pull the trigger on my ewe tag yet but I could have.  Trying to get one with my 1974 sharps rifle with paper patch ammo before switching to a scoped gun but I have plenty of time left.

Thank you and good luck to you! There are tons of ewes to choose from that is for sure! I had a blast! Post pictures if you can after you get your ewe.

We've got a ram tag for here, hopefully headed over there soon!  Headed back from colorado now, was that nice ram on public land?

He was really close to it about two to three hundred yards to the BLM land but he was still on the ranch. If I had the ram tag I would pay the trust pass fee to hunt the private late to. But you shouldn't have any problem finding a ram on the BLM land seen a bunch of decent rams and a few nice shooters. Good luck!
