My dad got one of the buck tags and am not here bragging. I've hunted the oregon side a ton and was wondering if anyone had any input on their experiences. I drew nothing and have 11 poit's in everything. Dad had 17 in buck so no need to be pissy. It was his first choice.

Are you talking one of the Deer Area 1040 buck tags?  If so, the area open to hunt is pretty limited.  WDFW has maps that show the area pretty well.  I have hunted the land directly to the east before.  I saw a pretty even split of Mulies and Whitetails.  Up high its a mix of deep heavily treed draws and flat open ridge tops that are in grass, crop, and/or pasture.  Down low it gets steep as the land fall off into the breaks of the Grande Ronde.  If you're looking for a Mule Deer buck you will find them all over the unit, but I would concentrate on the lower more open country.  If you want a whitey then I concentrate around the fields and timbered draws.  Nothing will help you more than a scouting trip.  Its beautiful country.  Good luck to your Dad.

I am not familiar with the unit but you might want to try a more genial tone when asking for help.  People are more likely to help if you ask without telling them there's no need to be pissy.  Just my  :twocents:
