Just wondering if you have an update of your Fossil creek permit experience?

Wish I woulda seen this thread ahead of time when it was posted. I would have been glad to give this guy a hand. Hopefully he got something down. If hes still searching for a late archery cow he needs to send me a pm asap. I had bought this permit in 2012 and i will say it is what you make of it.

Definitely not what it used to be. Most the big timber is gone.

Cleared the inbox, john you get a permit this year?? A few times now ive glassed elk from across the valley in the permit area. That year i had it a game warden was running the access gate on the last day and told me that he knew of 33 bulls taken that year (2012) that were taken during modern season.

No I did not buy the permit. It just is not what it used to be. I will save the $360+ and focus on my out of state hunts.

Yeah it definitely  isnt the same out in that area. I saved my cash as well and decided to buy a nice gps instead.

I lived in Grays River for 6 years. Lots of elk in that area and lots of real nice bulls. The locals from Naselle and Cathlamet take most of them. They have access to the privately owned property down in the valley bordering the timberland and get most of them there.

I PM'ed him and asked him the same thing, didnt get a response.  I was curious as to what his experience was and what he thought about it.

I think that there is too much access in the permit area.  At least for archery.  Just my  :twocents:

sorry it took so long for me to respond I didn't think anyone replied.  not much action. I had a injury right before the hunting season so I was only able to hunt 2 days.
