Thanks, it was definitely a great trip.  We hated to end it so quick, but it sure took some pressure off for the rest of the week in camp. :chuckle:  We still woke up early every morning and made a big breakfast, then hit the hills and hunted grouse and looked for moose during the day.  In the evenings it was good dinners and stoking the wood stove while bs'ing.  No phones, no TV, just relaxing in camp.  We ended the week with 19 grouse which was great.

That is awesome.  I hope the mount preserves the broken white tips.  I think that would be really cool looking.

690lbs hanging on the scale.  According to the biologist they lose up to 15% of their body weight between the first and second seasons due to the rut.  This bull was taken during the second season so that's why it's not in the 750-800 range.

Those aren't grouse. They're PAH-tridge!

True, but only a few of us would know what I was talking about if I had said that.  And with the accent they wouldn't ever get it.   ;)

So far every steak we've ate has been tender and zero gamey taste.  I've given some to people who don't like wild game and they've all had the same reaction... "wow, that's really good".   I guess that throws out the after the rut gamey taste myth.

Just found out the age of this moose from the tooth they took during tagging.  Any guesses before I post it up?
