Rank the goat tags
« on: June 15, 2015, 10:42:24 PM »
After looking at the threads after the draw , multiple goat tags were drawn by forum members. I drew north chelan, I seen a south chelan, a naches, and a bumping river. So I'm curious to see how people rank the goat options and why they chose that rank. Not sure what to expect for north chelan and there is little talk about it. Is it a bad tag?

No its not a bad tag. If they are up high you won't see them from a boat. I would go on scouting missions with Lake Chelan Helecopters to find them. I was just looking at my pictures of both sides of the lake's goats and the Manson sheep from lake level.

I don't think its a bad tag, definately not the easiest goat tag to fill though.  Get in shape, its tough, steep country.

Chowder ridge #1. Avalanche gorge #2 and Naches Pass #3. Those are the only units I've spent any time in so it's a fairly narrow minded opinion.  The Mount Baker experience with the goats appearing off and on glaciers is something special.  Sightability I'd go with naches area, you can be into goats off of several trails within a couple miles and the terrain is more in the extreme category.  The terrain in the Baker area can be considered dangerous(rightfully so).  :twocents:

Anyone know who drew the tag out by darrington? I would put that as #1 just because this is the first year its been open in a long time.

People get offended at nothing at all. So, speak your mind and be unapologetic.

That's the only one I put in for this year.

Chowder Ridge is definitely not going to be as easy this year with road washed out...

I was up in that area a couple weeks ago and counted 14 of them! Would love to have drawn this tag! That being said, any goat tag is a great tag....enjoy it man!!

In all honesty the only reason I only put in for that one is because I have to stick close to home this fall and that unit is pretty close to where I live. :chuckle:

I've never applied for goat tags but I'd think Goat Rocks would be #1.
