Any tips for Banks Lake
« on: June 16, 2015, 09:36:20 PM »
We're going to be heading over for some lake time soon. The kids are pretty content yo ski and tube from sunrise to sunset, but I'm hoping to find a little time for fishing as well. I tried a little Bass Fishing last time. Any suggestions on what yo try for and techniques at banks. I'm pretty much a Salmon Steelhead guy so any advice is appreciated. Thanks

We are going to stay down at Sunbanks resort. I'd be interested in most anything, but I've never fished walleye, so I find that pretty interesting. I like fishing for Kokanee and trout also. I'll have my 18 ft boat with me, so I can cover some water

Contour troll the shoreline with rapalas and other plugs. Run shallower stuff on the inside, deeper on the outside. You can catch anything that swims in the lake this way. Don't be afraid of the weedbeds, troll shallow plugs over the top of the weeds. It's been a few years since I've been out there but I always had success doing this.
Fish hard, hunt harder!

Caught 50+ walleye in 8 hours of fishing on banks last weekend. Lots of undersized fish, and a couple good ones mixed in. We pulled plugs that dove in the 10 to 15 foot range and that did the trick. Good luck

When you headed over? I will be over there this coming Wednesday - Sunday and am also staying at Sunbanks. I'm no expert but have fished it quite a bit for Walleye and bass.

Check out Anglers West TV on YouTube. They have a real good show on fishing the south end of SteamBoat Island on the point. That's where I would fish. :twocents:

Lots of small fish they have to be 16" to retain until  July 1st then you will be able to retain 12" min.. 8 fish/day 1 over 22".  Trolling anything on bottom walkers will catch walleyes right now.  Coulee Playland has lots of good walleye stuff.  worm harness or crankbaits in 20'.  Good luck! :)
Wild Turkey, Walleyes, Whitetails and Wapiti..These are a few of my favorite things!!

I watched this before we went. I found it very helpful, thanks for the tip
we just returned from almost a week at Banks. As I expected, most of our time involved water sports especially with the hot temperatures. I think it hit 113 on Sunday. We did get out and fish for some Walley though and had some success. We ended up with four keepers. Everyone in the boat caught one, except me. That's ok though I wasn't fishing I was busy keeping everyone else going and running the boat. I've never tried Walleye before, it was awesome! Thanks for the tips everyone
