Burris & Simmons Rifle Scopes

 I'm amazed at how many guys on this site are using Burris and Simmons scopes on their rifles. Seems a lot of the rifles that show up in our classifieds have these scopes on them, what am I missing with these?

What's wrong with Burris? I've been using them on magnum rifles for over ten years without a problem. They have a lifetime warrant, the glass is clear and the scopes are tough.

I'm a Burris fan, have 10x50 binos and 3 rifle scopes.  I will upgrade the binos to Swaros some day, but until then they will work.  Not a Simmons fan, including the Redfields made by Simmons.

IMHO  Burris is the Best  so usually people in the Know Have them on their rifles,  Simmons I Believe are about the Least costly and seem to function for most people 

I own 5 Burris Scopes all have worked Flawlessly  2  of these scopes went to Africa twice
with no adjustments required to re zero  (Posilok)

I think the Simmons come as part of a package on some of the middle of the road rifles.

I don't have experience with Burris.

I've never heard anything negative about Burris optics. I'm actually surprised they're not more popular. Maybe it's because they're not American made anymore? I have one Burris scope, one of their lower priced scopes, the Fullfield II. Great scope for the money.

Simmons, not a fan. But have never owned one so I can't comment further.

I have had a couple Simmons scopes over the years, always been happy with them.

Some of the new burris scopes are pretty darn nice. I did some trade work with a guy and got 4 different burris scopes. I have shot with one and its great. Still need to mount the others.

Burris Fullfield scopes are possibly the best buy going.
When I compared one SXS to a Leupold, the Burris was the easy choice.
My FFII has handled recoil on a Tikka 300WSM(6.5lb) with no adjustments required.

I have a burris ff2 on my 7 mm. Been a good scope but i wont buy another. I had burris signature select binos which broke. Burris no longer makes binos because steiner does (same company) they offered me a discount on steiner binos... so much for a lifetime warranty. I feel amd felt like thwy should have given me the same value of steiners. But they wouldnt.

I have a ton of scopes Leupold, swarovski, zeiss, redfield, and Burris.  Out of all of them my favorite scope is a 12 year old Burris Euro Diamond.

Regarding the original topic, I've owned both Burris and Simmons, I think Simmons is a step lower in optics quality than Burris. I still own the Burris, I would rate it lower middle of the road in quality, but I no longer own any Simmons and will not own any again, I think they are bottom of the barrel compared to most other brands.

Regarding the original topic, I've owned both Burris and Simmons, I think Simmons is a step lower in optics quality than Burris. I still own the Burris, I would rate it lower middle of the road in quality, but I no longer own any Simmons and will not own any again, I think they are bottom of the barrel compared to most other brands.

Leupold acquired them a few years ago. I had the old 3x9 Redfield Widefields on a couple rifles years ago, they weren't spectacular but they seemed dependable. I don't know how the new ones are today, I haven't paid much attention to them?

Simmons are popular on the package deals.  I've had a couple Simmons scopes and really did not like them at all. I think their quality is bottom of the barrel. I replaced one this summer with a low end Vortex scope that costs about 440 more than the Simmons, and the quality difference is unbelievable.

Another FYI post. The Burris brother's were technician's for Redfield in Denver before opening their own business.

I had a burris on my 338Rum,never had a problem with it.
