help needed- Waterfowl identification
« on: January 07, 2009, 02:38:00 PM »
I'm looking to find any sort of print that would show the different types of waterfowl found here in WA. I'm new to waterfowl and want to make sure I can properly identify the birds I'm hunting. Between the Regs pamphlet and the West Coast field identification guide I have, it doesn't show very many photos of the different huntable species. I'm just glad I live on the east side because from what pics I have seen, sea duck are a whole nother ball game.
God Bless,
Scott

I use this guys website: http://www.ejphoto.com/Birds.htm
He's a nature photographer and takes awesome pictures of most any kind of bird but his waterfowl photos are great. They have helped me with alot of identifications. It doesn't help with what birds are local or not but if you find that out, you can get a really good look at what they look like here.

Gobble...
Great job taking the initiative to learn what your bag looks like on the wing. To many hunters are shooting at anything that flys...then we here about dead swans in Grays Harbor and Skagit.

Its just my luck that if I were to shoot a bird that is off limits (canvasback) or shoot more of a species that is allowed in a bag limit I will have a run in with a F & W officer.
God Bless,
Scott
