breathable waders

Bought an inexpensive pair of waders 5 yrs ago.  I didn't know how much fly fishing I'd be doing so didn't invest much into them.
after patching them for the 6th time in as many years, my friend said, "oh for crying out loud, you are not poor, just go buy yourself some decent waders".
Yeah, he's probably right.

I pontoon boat and stream fish about 50/50.
Any suggestions for a decent stocking foot breathable wader?

I am going to get crapped on for saying this...  So here it goes.

I buy a pair about every two years. 

I buy the on sale cabelas or Sportco for 69 - 89 dollars.  I buy nice wading boot though... 

That way I just get a new pair and toss the old.  I don't feel bad.  If I had a 400 dollar pair of SIMMS and got a hole after 1 year I would be pissed off.  So anyway...   That is my logic.

I got a pair of Simms waders on sale for 80$. Years ago when cabelas first opened in Lacey. I've got one leak in them in this amount of time and it was from another fisherman next to me not paying attention to what he was doing and hooking me. I was irritated but things happen. I also got a pair of Simms boots. At the same time. They still seem new. All other waders I've got always seem to leak around seams and wader boots never would last. I fish a lot and Simms makes a good long lasting product.

I've had a pair of Simms and they have been pretty good.  One time they leaked and I sent them back for repair with no problem.  There may be some wisdom to just get cheaper waders and replace them every couple years with a new pair.  As hard as I try my waders always end up getting a leak somewhere, somehow.

I just ordered a pair of Simms G3 guide series.  Spendy but worth it.

Good deals on waders at Sierra trading post. I bought some cheap reddington waders and they lasted two years. I sept more time and money to patch them. Most cheaper, $60breathable waders, last me only two years float tube fishing. Buy new ones and be done with it.

i seem to get about a year out of every 100 bucks i spend on breathable waders on average.

my best luck has been with redington lately.  great product, excellent customer service.  i bought a pair of the zip-front sonic pro waders a couple years back(half off on sierra trading post), and the zipper broke a few months ago.  they were out of warranty so i called and asked if i could get them pro rated or repaired, they told me to send them back with a check for $30 for handling and they'll make it right.  two days later i received a brand new pair of their top of the line waders on my doorstep.

i think i'll keep supporting them from now on.

i did pick up a pair of used simms at the yelm goodwill for 7 bucks about a month ago, haven't tried them out but seemed like a good deal even if they leak a bit

Fit is very important with breathables. If they're too small, then the seams will get stressed and leak. Too big, and they will rub a lot and leak in the inside of the legs. I've found that $200 is the border between crappy and decent waders.

 Simms are a good product . I spend roughly 200 days a year wearing waders , sometimes wadeing getting in and out of boats other times wading and busting brush for miles . I am currently wearing the Simms G3 guides . They are very stout but not as comforatable as some of the less reinforced waders . The freestones are a better deal (in my opinion ) for most normal use .I also like cabelas guide tech for the $$ .
 Also if you wear them much you will get holes . Use your Aqua Seal and carry on! I have had pairs that looked like more Aqua Seal than wader and they still kept pretty water proof . Also once they do wear out save them or cut some squares from them and use for patching material....... Hope this helps some .
