Lake Tapps
« on: June 19, 2015, 10:36:42 AM »
Just saw an email saying Lake Tapps is back open for fishing.

Does this mean it is open for the rest of the season or just the one day?

I saw a story on Tapps on King 5 last night. They said the lake is only open to nonmotorized boats right now as its not at full pool yet. They showed some footage, the docks were still dry. I bet the water is cold and what's left of the fish are really spread out.  :twocents:

Guy told me today that they drew down from Mud Mountain dam to increase the White River flow to feed the lake. Just wasn't enough flow from the river this year. Wow! That's gonna be some cold water. Looks like it's still about 6-10 feet below the dock level. Anybody else hear that?

Lake Tapps is currently at an elevation of 537 feet and many of the boat ramps are still unuseable. Also the tops of a lot of stumps are either visible or just under the surface. The lake needs to come up to somewhere betweem 541 and 543 feet to open all the boat ramps and be deep enough to cover all but a few stumps, the lake when completely full is at 545 feet.
Fishing is going to probably be pretty slow for a while, the water going in the lake is around 38degrees right now, brrr, and it will take a really long time for it to warm up.
