Oregon Dune Riding
«

What exactly is required for an ATV to be legal to take them onto the Oregon dunes around Florence? I know in Oregon you can have your ATVs licensed for street use etc, but do you have to have a license plate to be able to drive them on the dunes? We have updated tabs and all but I keep finding conflicting information online so I figured there's got to be some of you on here that have taken your ATV down there and you could help me
.. Thanks!

make sure you get a off road permit for your vehicle also, can't quite remember the details but we went to a sporting good store and fill out some paper work to register your vehicle. the night we got there it was late so we didn't have one and got nailed first thing in the morning had to go to town.

I am pretty sure you now need a orv license on your person that you get online after taking a course similar to washington's boater course. It killed our desire to go down there when there were about 12 of us that needed o take the course. Kids had to do a 8 hour hands on course down in oregon. Instead, we just go over to Moses lake. Not as nice though. On a side note, watcha ridin'?

You need a current Washington ORV tag, ATV Safety Card and your flag. I recomend having your registration and Safety Card with you in a safe location though. I have been riding Florence and Winchester Bay for decades. And I have been asked for my registration so they could match it with the sticker.
Also, be sure to be under the sound decible level. They carry meters to measure the noise from your quad/atv, and they WILL TICKET on the spot. I know this the hard way
Check out Dune Fest, it is a great time.

Growing up we've just always rented the quads in Florence but we (and I mean I've commandeered these
) have a Suzuki Eiger and Ozark. I'd love to bring them down instead of paying to rent ones.
So flag, tabs, and certification aye. Hmm... probably not stuff I'll get before 4th of July then
So I took the washington safety course with my mom when these quads were first bought, they actually paid us to take the course...would that count for the Oregon ATV safety card or is it state specific?

You can buy an ATv sticker for $10 just need your atv vin number. Get em at sportsmans in Florence. The Oregon course is online takes a few mins print out temp license right then. Yes u can get help no one is watching.
Need a flag.
That's it.
If your atv is currently licensed in WA you don't need the ATv sticker
Because Wa has no mandatory training your current card is not Sufficient in OR.
IMO.
