Springfield xds 9 mm
« on: June 21, 2015, 03:26:57 PM »
Anybody have firsthand experience with an xds in 9mm, I'm thinking about getting one. Your thoughts on it would be appreciated.
Thanks, Fuzznuts

I have a buddy in Texas that littarly bought one last week. I've heard good thing about them, nothing really negative about the XD's at all except the recent recall but I heard they got it handled. For the most part all the single stack 9's are about the same in terms of reliablilty. Find the one that best fits your hand and roll buddy.

I have one in 45, small, compact and flawless. Plus, you can get 3 FREE magazines if you buy one before a certain date this month. Check their website or the popup on here when it, pops up.

I had one in a .40 and it was great.  I wouldn't think twice about buying another if I was in the market for one.

I have one in .45. I really like it. No issues. Still a tad on the large side to conceal. But does so just fine.

I have an XD 40 Service Model, best gun I've ever owned. I bought an XDS 9 last fall and really like it except for one issue that is actually fairly common if you google it. When chambering the first round you have to really rack the slide hard and fast. You can't "ride" the slide forward slowly or quietly because when you do there is the potential for the round to catch on the feed ramp on the barrel. Mine does this when I ride the slide and it's annoying. I believe the manual says not to ride it and to rack it hard which means they're obviously aware of it but I still think that it should be non-issue and should load flawlessly at any force or speed. I know people grind or polish the feed ramp just slightly and it removes the problem but again, this shouldn't be an issue when new, but it is. The link below explains it pretty well. Has anyone else experienced this at all? It should only be for the XDS series.

This second video demonstrates it as well. Like I said, it's common.

XDs are the small, 5 shot guns. Very easy to conceal. The big XD aren't. I carry the 10 shot, 40 cal all the time and that's easy to conceal also. I actually got rid of my XD 45 I had because, it was like an anchor on my hip.
