Quote
After 34 years with WDFW and its predecessor agencies (Game and Wildlife), I have decided to retire at the end of June. I have had a great career with the Department and have had many diverse and challenging opportunities, although perhaps none as challenging and potentially rewarding as implementing the Wolf Plan.
  UGggg!

Think it could be because of the new director?

I would love to have the job but my agenda wouldn't be tolerated.  Kill, kill, and kill some more!

Dave was at the last GMAC meeting and said that he has been planning on retiring at this time for several years, so I don't believe it had anything to do with the new director. He actually told us when he moved from wildlife director to wolf lead that he would be retiring soon and that was before Phil Anderson retired.

That is an 80-90K per year position in Olympia that really accomplishes nothing in my book.  The reason being that the person may have some good ideas but the treehuggers will just sue and sue some more to ensure that nothing meaningful will come out of this position.  I would rather see a couple more wildlife enforcement officers on the road then  :pee: away that money.

Lets wait and see how the new guy is doing.
My gut feeling said they're going to promote one of their pup to this position so that the pack is pure and strong.

I was thinking of applying. I missed two calls from Olympia over the weekend. I wonder if it was Director Unsworth????

If I was qualified, I would apply and try to get an interview.
