Well, because, like I said in the review I used the pack to haul quite a load of sheds during the shed season. I also had both of my daughters stand on the frame and I strapped them in and walked around the block with them comfortably. I walked with an oversized decoy bag with 4 dozen decoys with weights around my block. So as I stated in my review it was not hunting season but I did my best to replicate it. My shed hunting trip was every bit as grueling as any elk hunting day trip I have ever been on. I might not have had a huge slab of meat on the pack but I am very confident in my testing and the packs ability to handle anything that I will put on it in the future. So again I say A+.

Nice review.  I love mine, I just strap my fanny pack to it and go over the edge and start hunting. When I get something I strap it to the pack and then tie the fanny pack to the top of the load.  The waist band and shoulder straps are padded so well you don't really feel the pack when it is not loaded.  The padding really helps when you are loaded and makes the job seem easier than it is.  Once you get a load on and the straps adjusted to your liking it is actually easier to just keep walking than to stop and take a break.

I recommend this pack to anyone that does a lot of packing. Two thumbs up from me,

I've run my bullpac for 10+ years.  It has seen quite a few loads in the 100-150lb range (packing meat).  Plus a lot of lighter hiking loads.  It is still in solid shape.  My brother and my dad both have one as well.  I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a serious pack frame.

I have used many different kinds and I stopped looking after I used one.  I purchased one and have never looked back.  Great pack in my opinion.  I have packed out a lot of elk with it with the most recent last years elk.   I think it is a very good pack.

Thanks guys!  We understand everybody has different tastes and we don't claim to be the Holy Grail of packs.  Heck, we have a  dozen different packs in the shop (Nimrod, Tenzing, Eberlestock, Badlands, etc...) that we use routinely, depending on the circumstances.  They all have their place and there's no one perfect pack for everything and every style of hunting.  And while they're all great packs for hunting, when it comes to packing meat or hauling heavy loads, it's tough to beat a good, solid external frame pack like the Bull Pac.  They may not be as flashy or have as many bells and whistles, but they're reasonably priced, comfortably built and darn near indestructible... and replacement parts are readily available if your new puppy chews a bloody shoulder strap in half or you set it too close to the campfire and melt a pad or webbing.

We're always trying to think outside the box, so keep an eye on our website or follow us on Facebook... never know when our next idea might fill a niche that you have?

Thanks again!

thanks for the reply.  Which pack of yours would most resemble a 7,500 cu in pack like my badlands?  I really don't like how narrow the bag is on the badlands, meat and such is hard to load up by yourself and it not exactly water proof.  I how your packs don't cost 600.00!

7,500 cubic inches is a pretty big bag.  If you go on the website (BullPacs.com), we have a quick video that shows the various configurations a guy could put together with what we have to offer.  The Leader of the Pack Combo provides a ton of gear carrying capabilities, but at the same time allows you to reconfigure your set up half a dozen different ways, depending on what you're doing.  Every hunt seems to be a little different and sometimes it's nice to be able to mix and match gear for each different set of circumstances.  A guy can always add to the Bull Pac set up over time and not have to worry about "Oh, we changed that model and now none of the other gear fits on it anymore."

We tried to provide more specific details on the website so people can visualize various options and get ideas that would mesh with their style of hunting...

We'd be happy to go over specific questions or ideas though.

Thanks!

It may very well be 7,500, but ours Lochsa is only 3,700 and is pretty roomy... 7,500 is over twice that size, so not sure?  Yes, all the components are sold separately so guys can mix and match.  Lots of guys start out with just the frame and then decide they want the day pack for everyday trips where they want the frame for packing a good load of meat out on the first trip, or plan a backcountry hunt, so want to add the Lochsa and extension down the road and have more versatility for numerous configurations on the same trip.  Again, mostly a style/preference thing.

Ive been a bullpacs owner for close to 15 years . Had my original bullpacs frame not been stolen I would still be using it.  Its one solid pack frame.  Bulletproof because I don't know how you could possibly break one.  I might sell my current bullpacs to get the newer version.  some slight differences that interest me in upgrading it.

Swift, now that's a load right there!  We've field tested them to 210 pounds... plenty tough, but as you point out, a good way to wreck yourself.

Crunchy, if we can make our paths cross, we'll save you the S&H too.

Thanks!

After using many of the top backpack manufactures packs over the years, I can honestly say that my Bull Pac is the best pack I own! It is by far the most comfortable pack under load that I have ever worn. And with all the new accessories that Bull Pacs are now offering, I am finding more ways to integrate it into my hunts.  I am also a huge fan and supporter that they are 100% made in the USA, which is hard to find now a days!

I am in huge support of a company that is owned and there product made here in the good ol USA.  I believe the review that was done above is very accurate and those are great uses for the functionality of the Bull Pacs.  I've seen the progress of the company over the last year and will continue to be in support of the company. Good work Sam and family.

If it's the badlands pack you got from me then it's the 4500.

Just wanted to update this thread a little. I have now used my Bullpac to move more than a ton of garbanzo beans to various bait sites. The frame has a few dings and scratches from use but it has preformed flawlessly. So I again give this pack frame an A+ rating.

Would love to hear from someone that has experience with this pack, the mystery ranch and the kifaru brand do a comparison between the different brands.

Just giving this a bump for a site sponsor.  Used this for the fifth time this year.  First was by buddies dad's elk, then my buddies elk, then my daughters whitetail, then my wife's elk and now my daughters elk.

This load was 103 pounds, pack gear and meat(deboned hind quarter, bone in front shoulder and head).  The thick padded shoulder straps and waist belt really give you a good cushion with a heavy load.  Once all the straps are tight this thing becomes part of your body and moves only when you do.

I would love to field test one that allows the bench to fold flat against the main frame so I can pack on my mule panniers easier.

My original one has never let me down ................................... ever.

The horsey/mule thingy is just a touch more specific.

Rainier - that's a cool photo... love the background!

Sounds like you're getting lots of use out of your pack... Congrats!

2MANY - part of the beauty of the Bull Pac is the that it doesn't have the folding shelf, which eliminates weak/squeaky points.  We're working on some new stuff, we'll see what we come up with in the future.

Thanks for sharing guys!

Someone asked about other personal experiences.   Here some thoughts of my experiences...  But this is just my opinion.

I like my bull pac and once I purchased one I never went back to anything else.  It is solid, I can bang it on things and it does not hurt it.  It has tie downs for the loose meat bags.  The shoulder pads are thick and do not bother me at all.  The pads do not cut off circulation under heavy loads like 100 or more lbs. I do not hunt with this pack.  It is strictly a meat packing frame.  I have packed out a lot of elk on this pack.

I have owned and used the freighter frame type of packs and they worked.  The shelf was OK and if you had the right harness the weight would ride on your hips. It flexed a lot under heavy loads.  It squeaked so much under load it drove me crazy.  It was my first and I wore it out.  I was happy to try something new.

I own the Eberlestock J34 Just One pack.  It is heavy to pack for an all day hunt, I think it is 7.5 lbs when empty. It has a rifle scabbier which is nice when you need two hands free.  The pack has 2300 cubic inches when it is totally collapsed and can be used as a day pack.  It expands to something like 4500 cubic inches.   You can get it to expand to a 8100 cubic inch load.  8100 cubic inch full of meat I could not pack very far.  But I could carry 100 lb of meat in that pack.  It flexed like crazy. The tie downs are fantastic for this pack.  It is very solid to hold just loose meat.  The hip and arm straps were very comfortable for me.
