BigMike's Eastside Fishing Weekend
«

Hello folks,
I am taking the kids out this weekend to Clear Lake in Spokane for a fishing/camping trip (trout, crapie and bass). Is there a good place for Channel Catfish near by? I have never caught one so I want to give it a go. What is the best bait for them? Also I bought 3 crawdad traps and will give that a go also for the first time
. Maybe I can post some crawdad pics on the crawdad mania tread
. I will be using trout head and guts for bait if we catch them. Then I was thinking about stoping by the Grand Coulee Dam maybe for Stergeon on the way back to the west side. The kids are all packed and ready to go since last week. Super Excited.

I like fresh cut bait for cats. Been awhile since I fished them. If you get one, skin or filtet out, dredge in buttermilk, season it up, and fry that sucker with a cold beer on hand. Good eats.

Hey Bigmike, I'm not sure if they are channel catfish, but Sprague Lake has some big catfish according to F&W. The report I heard said no one was really targeting them, but they are in there.
Good luck and have a fun weekend - don't forget lots of ice!
