He guys sorry for the wait been busy. The hunt started Thursday the 24th, the day after getting back from my honeymoon in south Africa but that's another story. My wife, father and I battled jet lag but managed to get all are gear ready and set out for the butte. We were joined by my brother his fiance, my uncle, and a friend from Racked up outdoors to film the trip. Thursday and Friday I dedicated to scouting only! I want to be certain I would be pursuing the biggest ram left in the unit. I say left as many know there were three guys able to hunt before me and two rams had already been taken. For the record I do not hold a grudge against those three gentlemen they did not break any rules, if I were pissed at any one it would be wdfw. By this time I had put all that behind me and just wanted to have fun and take the best ram I could.
Friday we split into three groups. My father and uncle scoured one side of the butte while my brother took another side, and I took a boat to search the cliffs along the columbia. That night we all came together and looked over all the vrlodeo and phone scope images to decide on what ram we would take. I decided I would take this ram with the fresh notch in his right horn.
Saturday morning was cold and windy as we glassed from the towers. Within minutes my brother glassed up the big ram from the day before. The hunt was on as we took off down the hill, to out surprise the ram was in rut mode and was out pacing us as he decended all the way to the river. After a few tense hours my dad and uncle relocated him and we were back on him. I snuck to 75 yards of the ram and at this point decided I would ditch my shoes and the rest of the team besides the camera man to close into final bow range. After a 30 min crawl I was within 39 yards of the bedded ram just needing him to stand to expose his vitals. As many hunts go the wind sifted in his favor and he was gone just like that. I dropped the bow and my brother met me with the rifle for a shake off hand 289 yard shot that struck the ram right behind the shoulder. The ram was down... I really can't explain how I felt at that moment. This oppertunity meant alot to me this was my second ram in my quest to kill the north American slam and to get to share it with my friends and family was priceless.
I shot the ram with a 257 wthby barns 100 gr ttsx. The score of the ram really doesn't matter and because of some trolls on the Internet I will not share my official score of the ram. I will say he is going to score over 180... thank you to everyone on here who has helped out and to all those that were there truly an a zing oppertunity.
