There is a good area in 105 that never gets touched by moose hunters. The extreme north eastern part of 105. Message me if you want directions .

That's where I would start.  :twocents: Yes, I believe you are correct CAMPMEAT. How much is it now?

Family is around $75 I think. I got a free disabled permit for all IEP this year, nice if I had a moose tag.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

But I don't think they give you a key to get in.

They have never given me a key.......maybe I better check on that. ( this is for Mitchell Rd area ). I know the gal that runs Resource Mgmnt told me that there are no keyed gates near Mitchell rd. She also told me that it is patrolled and if you don't have paperwork stating you can be on IEP Land, they trespass you and charge you with it and take it to court.  :dunno:

FYI - For what it's worth, I just got this from Shelley the other day:

Dave -Many of the gates are open during a "normal" hunting season, for vehicle access.  Some of the interior gates are closed and you can walk or bike beyond those.  Even during our off season, when the gates are closed, you can go around them with an ATV/UTV 50" or less.  We just need to have some rain so this closure for extreme fire danger passes.

FWIW

Last year I was in part of your unit and they had the gates closed and some disgruntled person had ripped the sign off the cross rail and left a "Lumpy" in the center of the sign. I would make sure. The signage was pretty positive it was closed. Not sure how I could have gotten my Japanese Quarter horse around the blockage. This was during the "Normal "hunting season as well.

But I just might still have some secret's. The photo didn't come from the IEP properties either.

Since the ferry county side is closed the wife and I took a road trip this last Sunday to see what the fires had done. Drove up Boulder to the summit at Deer Creek. The west side of the area was not showing much of the fire until we got within perhaps 3/4 of a mile of the summit then it started to show burnt. When we got to the top and broke over it's amazing what's not there. Went toward Curlew about 2 miles. All of the side roads have signage letting you know the area is closed. Came back and drove by the Renner lake fire where we could get that fire was not far off of 395. Both fires you can see smoke from.

One of the guys at work has a daughter who is USFS and she is patrolling the closed areas and they are writing tickets for Non-compliance!!
It also sounds like they are busy enforcing the closure. He said she had a person who just didn't get it and after the verbal bashing she took she did point out the error of his ideas. He had numerous pieces of paper to carry with him.

Just a heads up to the contestant's in the area.

Could be a busy area with Charcoal burners hunting elk as well.

I do believe today I saw what could have been a Moose Safari.
A Razor with 4 guys riding and pack frames in it followed by a Ranger with 2 others in it. They seemed way to intense to want to talk.
But running the roads like a Yo Yo.

Would have guessed that since the middle of the unit is closed due to fire I would see a few folks looking.
