I have been looking at trips from Westport and Ilwaco too. Radsav pointed me to these ports lets see if he has some more specific advice.

I have only run in and out of these ports to help guys get license extensions.  Have not chartered in either place.  I do know those would be the two I would look at for tuna as we would run north to join these boats during tuna season.  That means their customers got to spend more time fishing than we did.  And the big plus is that most of those charter skippers have much more tuna knowledge than most of the central Oregon coast skippers.

I'm sure there a good number of Hunt-WA members that know the Ilwaco and Westport charters much better than I do.

I know nothing about their salmon and rockfish charters.  Though from what I have seen central OR coast charters used to exceed lingcod and Cabazon catches of those in WA.  The Dory fleet really took it's toll on the shallow reef fisheries back in the early 90's.  So how that compares today I just do not know.  Probably best to ask someone else :dunno:

Hunt-WA's own "Come Get Some" runs weekend charters.  Though I am not sure where or what charter office he works with.  I do know he is running twin turbo charged Volvo's in a 33' Bounty.  Should be a fast, stable and comfortable vessel.  Might send him a PM!

Not that I would want to be on a boat with 19 other guys, but that looks like a fun day.  Water looks great!

a lot of buddies have fished on the hula girl and say that it was great. i have read all kinds of threads on here and reviews online and mark colemans name from all rivers and saltwater charters seems to be coming up a lot. i am going to book a tuna trip with him in the next few days. it will be my first time out for tuna. its hard to let go of that kind of money for a fishing trip so i hope its as fun as people say!

Thanks for the info. I would prefer a smaller boat, but I will take what I can get. Any word on the tequila too?

I have been out on the tequila 2 for salmon before.  Good time for salmon.  Bottom fishing I would go with either the slammer or hula girl.  This was last weekend on the slammer.  32 and 29lbs

Slammer with Rhett Webber, Hula Girl with Steve Westrick and Freedom with Chuck Custer. All good skippers that work hard to give you the best experience they can. Good deckhands too, which helps make a trip better. I've only been on the freedom recently, but all have solid reputations and run good clean operations
