BOG DeathGrip Bantam Shooting Tripod
« on: May 03, 2025, 02:01:38 PM »
Before I purchase off amazon, anyone have these and thoughts on them?  I’ve gone through two of the Jim Shockey pistol grip ones and both have failed on me. Not falling for those again.

Never used the Bantam, but own and use on a regular basis the "Sherpa" model and original carbon death grip model.  The sherpa is legit......lightweight, arca attachment for ease of use with my rifle and optics.  It also comes with a deathgrip head w/ arca attachment for those who don't have arca on their rifles.  The death grip head is heavy so I leave it when on pack trips.  If I had to guess....it is 2.5 lbs w/out the death grip attachment.  There is a significant cost difference between the Sherpa and Bantam.

I love all my BogPod gear.

Yeah, saw the Sherpa and just don’t want to spend that much.  Thanks for the review!

Ever use a Harris bipod ?

I haven’t, but I like how steady the tri pods are.

I hunted with guys who loved them. I wished I had one in the blind last year. I ended up getting a DeathGrip  Bantam at WalMart of all places. They are right next to the Schokey ones.

Pretty solid and always fast to deploy  :twocents:

Harris Bipod:
Lightweight and Compact: Ideal for hunters who need to move quickly, as it's easy to carry.
Fast Deployment: Legs are spring-loaded for quick deployment.
Adjustable Height: Can be adjusted for different shooting positions.
Simple Design: Easy to use and understand.
BOG DeathGrip:
Versatile: Can be used for a wider range of shooting positions and terrains.
Adjustable: Features tilt and pan adjustments, as well as height adjustment.
Grip and Stability: Designed with high-density foam grips and no-slip lever locks for stability.
Weight and Size: Heavier and more bulky than a Harris bipod, which may be a disadvantage for long hikes, says HuntXP.
In summary:
If you need a lightweight, easy-to-carry option for benchrest or prone shooting, the Harris bipod is a good choice.
If you need a more versatile, adjustable tripod for a variety of shooting situations and want a stable, secure feel, the BOG DeathGrip is a better option

I always take my Trigger stick too but usually ends up in the back seat of the truck

Good luck

Thanks, appreciate that report.   I really like the trigger stick when it’s new and works, but after 2 seasons each one quit working.  I have a super light weight bi pod that goes on my belt so I’m leaning towards the death grip bantam.

I've had to fix a couple of the trigger sticks and it wasn't too difficult.  There's a few videos on youtube.
