My Lowas took very little time to break in. They fitted around my feet almost from the start. No sore spots or blisters either.

I took my Kenetreks out of the box and hit the hills for a late archery muledeer hunt. Was that smart? No. Luckily it worked out for me and my feet were just fine. They are a stiff boot but that was what I liked about them. If not for the leaking issue I might still have mine. I do boot reviews now pretty often and am fortunate enough to be able to test quite a few different types and brands. Good luck fellas hope you find the ones you like.

I don't think they will let you in unless you have on tie-die and sandals.

Yeah man, combat boots aren't that great compared to anything I've purchased myself.  I do have a nice set of Danner boots that I wear in uniform but those ran a little higher than the cheapo ones.

I had a set of Pronghorns but they blew out after about a year and a half.

yeah, it was a money thing for me, I bought a set of Kennetreks a few years ago and after about a week of wearing them I had some severe pain in the ball of my left foot, Apparently they were too narrow for me and caused some issues. I sold them and hadn't bought any hunting boots to replace them. I plan on buying some more boots in the future but I wanted some for hot weather first as that's when my feet really bug me.

I've used a pair of lowa renegades for the last 7 years with zero problems.  I've also absolutely destroyed danner pronghorns in less than 2 years...  I will stick with Lowa from now on.    Shoebuy.com has them with a 20% discount code for around $200.

Here's a lunchtime break with some leaky Danners... Don't buy them unless you can find a drying rack. :chuckle:

For early season I was using Lowa Khumbu 2"s but made the switch last year to Salewa Mountain Trainer GTX. I can't say enough about a full rand sole.

Check out Russell Moccasin online site, I ordered my second pair last year after using my first pair for 14 years of hard high country hunting in Washington, Idaho and Wyoming. They are a custom fitted boot that requires you to take about 7 different measurements of your foot, ankle and calf. Take a look at their " high country" boots. I have never wore a more comfortable boot.
