What a joke! Not that I ever buy firearms in Seattle but now 100% sure I wouldn't if this stupid legislation is passed.

The tax, imposed on gun sellers, would be $25 on each firearm sold in the city and five cents on each round of ammunition

It may not be constitutional anyway and lead to lots of legal fees for seattle. Imagine a specific tax to contributions to PAC's, charities, social service orgs, candidates or a tax for operating a blog or community political forum.  A tax designed to thwart the access to a constitutional right is the just as illegal as the direct restriction of the right itself.  A sales tax on all products is not such a problem for firearms, but a tax designed to decrease firearm sales and thwart access to the 2A is likely to create constitutional problems.  If they can add $25 tax, why not $2500?  Waste of grandstanding time, this will cost Seattle millions to defend and solve nothing.

The city is pretty left, where else would you see a card carrying socialist elected?  Like minimum wage, this just drives business out of city limits.  Gun shops would follow Walmart and restaurants.

It is the same thing, tax it to pay for something but the funds raised go toward something else.  The far left is off on their own little planet.

This is just another farce designed to do nothing in practice, except impact lawful business owners on their bottom line, while lawful possessors will purchase elsewhere, and while criminals will continue to get them as they always have, straw purchases, theft, and black market.

only in Seattle! he!! beat the surcharge too! Steal a bicycle (since they are all over) drive down the street that was converted with vehicle registration dollars to a bike trail to that remote parking lot to break in and steal the car to drive out of town to purchase your gun (as you are not yet that convicted felon) return to town and rob the corner store with said gun, to purchase your pot from the local greenery saving 25$ which can buy you more weed! So you can go back out in the stolen car and kill someone with said vehicle still in town.... Brilliant!!!
