Alfalfa is like meth to a druggy
Was talking to one guy and people told him that the blacktails in his area would not eat corn.  He wanted to feed corn because it was cheaper.  So he mixed it with alfalfa pellets and the deer began to eat it but would leave a little corn.  After a while, the alfalfa was phased out and the deer are now eating the corn.
