Work boot opinions

Looking at replacing work boots and looking for suggestions. 10 hours of standing on concrete carrying loads everyday.. Looking at something along the lines of danner quarry but might step up to nicks or whites if I can justify it. Steel toe not required but I prefer it but has to be leather, need a high arch and some ankle support 8 to 10".. Would like to hear what works for everyone! Thanks..

Back when I was buying real work boots, I likes the dinner super rain forest. Much better than the quarry. Expensive though. Best deal used to be through Baker's boots and clothing.  Now days I just wear hiking boots. Much more comfortable, lighter usually cheaper.

If you consider whites or nicks type boots I would look at the Hoffman boots as well.

I am a  industrial plumber and spend most of my days on concrete as well,  I tried the banners for a while but got tired of replacing them every year at  nearly 300 bucks a pair. So about ten years ago I bit the bullet and bought a pair of whites, I have never even tried on a different pair of boots since the break in sucks but once your through it the are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned. I am on my third pair now.  Each pair replaced after four years.  I am yet to send  in a pair for rebuild, but I am told that they come back just like new, and for half the price

I actually love my old timberland boots but i am sure they aren't the same now.  I am following this cuz I am going to need to buy some steel toe work boots in the near future if I am going to try and stay in this line of work.

Thanks for the input everyone... Switched from ag fields to cnc laser/ press break operator and not used to the concrete hours flat cowboy boots don't cut it!

The last time whites did a rebuild for me it lasted one whole entire work day before the eyelets tore out. A $300 mistake that lost them a customer for life. Nicks are a better boot than my whites ever where. Much thicker sole that actually takes some break in time but once it's broke in it fits perfect.

I loved my White's until I switched to a Kenetrek. No comparison in comfort, and my White's now collect dust. Hardest part is daring to wear a high dollar hunting boot to work.

Danner Foreman is also a great boot for standing on concrete.

i also like whites, but have never worn nicks. first few days in whites is like balancing on a railing so much arch support. i avg around 2yrs before needing rebuilt

I got a pair of Thorogood's 8" line men boots.  Very comfortable but they have the composite toes and composite shank.  I don't know if you require them.  It is a requirement for me to climb towers also to have on the fire line.  Since they are composite and not steel they qualify for fire too.  I also have a pair of Carolina Linemen boots with composite toes and steel shank also very comfortable boots.  These were my first tower climbing boots I bought 5 years ago.  Scuffed and nicked up but still in great shape.  I work with a lot of guys that use White's or Hawthorne's and swear by them.

i get an allowance for boots every 6 months so i get to try out different boots on the company's dime

i've worn keens, doc martens, timberland, and most recently thorogood.  my job involves standing for 12 hours a day on concrete and steel deck(production work).  it's also hotter than hell in there.  i've gotten 6 months on my 8" thorogood boots so far without any issues at all.  they're light, stay cool, and most importantly they're comfortable.  the keens and timberland boots i've owned were very comfortable with the keens fitting like tennis shoes and the timberlands having excellent shock absorption, but they don't seem to last all that well and the timberlands would get very hot.

Irish setters are cozy but soles wear fast and they can be war,.  Romeos..  If you can get the rubbermat put down do it!!!

Fred Meyer has a fine work boot that I like.  Chinooks. A pull on type boot with tread, pleasing neutral Brown. Uninsulated, and waterproof. I've done nothing but manual labor my whole life, and for the past three years, a pair a year does it. Even after a year of shoveling, running around log decks, walking throughs cow slop they stay waterproof. $120. Good working man deal. Nice not having to lace and unlace.
