2015 49 Degrees North Moose Tag- Help!
« on: July 10, 2015, 07:06:22 PM »
First time on this site.  Still cannot believe that I drew this tag- late season- but am at a bit of a loss on where to start. Used to live inWA, but relocated to Vegas for work, so multiple scouting trips aren't possible. Been told that later is better- hope for snow and the leaves off the trees.  Outside of that, I'm just starting my research. Anyone out there that has hunted this unit that can offer some advice?  Thank you in advance.

Bearpaw Outfitters would be a great start if you are limited on time.

Send me a pm. I would be willing to help out. Scouting isn't an absolute necessity of you have a good hunting sense. Tell us a bit about yourself and what hunting you like to do etc. awesome draw! The bigger bulls are usually killed in the later season.

If you enter on the east side of the unit out of Usk, head up to Dirty Shirt, and just start driving roads and glossing clear cuts, or you can come in from the Chewelah side and follow the ski hill ( 49 degrees north) road across and again just drive roads and glass, do not be afraid to walk out the gated ones, never know what you may find, also do not be shy about talking to the locals there are a lot of good people up there willing to help when it comes to the moose tags. Good Luck!

You have some great resources on the site.  Research it and find some people to PM.  They'd be happy to help.  You have one of the best moose tags that exists in the lower 48.  Do it justice!

I know, I know, first time post-er.  Sorry but this is by far the best place I have find to get info on this unit. Nice bunch of folks here!

And yes, a non-resident no less.  I did live in WA for 4 years and my gal is a proud WA State alumn though. Go Cougs!

I drew in my 13th year.

The moose must be doing well in most of that unit. I saw a ton of them on my spring bear hunt. Good luck

Why wouldn't we give him info? It's not like moose tags are over the counter and you need to keep your honey hole to yourself. Once in a lifetime tag. Have fun and enjoy the ride.

My reference was to all of the folks who have numerous points and for some odd reason feel they are entitled to a tag before anyone who has less points than they do. It is a Lottery for goodness sakes!!
I will be more inclined to offer intel to this person than those folks.
Just review the tag draw threads and see how many folks are preaching the entitled logic.

And thanks to all that offered good luck and help. Appreciate the kindness- I'll be reaching out to those that have pm'd and/or posted their phone number.

And again, if anyone is considering an out of state hunt, I can't recommend enough where I currently live.  Awesome antelope (hunted them near Lovelock) and the elk are insane (got a great bull near Wells). If you are thinking about applying- Dad and I drew with a few points- or have drawn, please shoot me a note and I'll tell you all I know.

I've got quite a bit of experience hunting antelope in Wyoming, so if you are thinking about that as well, I can offer some advice.

Didn't want to jump the gun until I got something in the mail but the permit showed up this week. I got the tag too (Nov)! I don't know the area but will let you know of any info that I come across. I know a few people that run around the woods their so I hope I can help. I am looking for any help/info/tips as well as I have only seen one moose in my life (a cow).
