Anyone else ever Spring Bear hunt in B.C.?
« on: January 09, 2009, 01:26:51 AM »
Just wwondering if anyone else here has done a spring bear hunt up in B.C.? Me and a few friends have been up there a few times and every time it has been an absolute blast!! The hunts are spot and stalk and there have always been alot of bears to choose from. All sizes and a fair share of color phase also.
We are about due to go again. It's been about four or fives years since we have gone the last time. The first year we went up, there were eight people in camp and everyone had two bear tags except for one gentleman that just had one. We killed fifteen bears in five days!!
So I thought that I would ask if anyone else had done this and what their experience was and how they liked it. I'm just really getting that itch to go again. It's also not a bank breaker either. It's right at $2,500 for two bears.

How much for one bear?  Also, do you have to use a guide or what?

It's $500 less for just one bear. And yes you need a guide for non res B.C. hunters. The camps are great and so is the food. It's just a real relaxing and fun hunt. Very laid back.

Sounds like fun.  Can you recommend a good guide?

I thought I looked it up on the internet and if I remember right, I read that it would be like 5k minimum...   :dunno:

I've always used "Ambush Outfitters" Shane Wakelyn is the owner. The price was between $2500-$3000 for two bears.
