Any public land with turkeys in Spokane.

Had a blast this last Spring with my son on are very first turkey hunt. Got to shoot at a nice Tom with my bow but missed the darn thing.  Plus he flew off the hill side and sun was going down. We went out on the last weekend of spring hunt no luck. We heard a few & saw plenty on public land. So I was hoping to get a little closer to base like Spokane area but having hard time finding public land, So if any one could point me in the right direction that would be great. i would like to fill my sons tags + mine here in fall. I'm so addicted to the gobble they make in the woods  :drool:

Suggest a visit to www.mapmet.com (free) or get a map from the DNR in Colville (under $10).  Both will show you public land.  The WDFW (Hunt) website also has a place that shows available private land available with landowners permission, but don't wait until the last second.  A trip north from Spokane (especially Springdale or Hunters north to the Canadian border)and travelling some back roads would also be in order as you will see the birds out in the fields especially earlier in the morning and later towards evenings ... many of the folks will let you hunt with your advantage there being the young lad.  I say even a blind man can find birds in the NE corner of the state.  Good luck ...

Thanks for the response back. I had  good luck up in Colville area for my first season. I was looking into Spokane area but all I seem to find is Private land with Crazy boundary lines. I might have to talk with land owners don't want to tick any property owner off by chaseing down a bird  on some ones land. Sept. is coming soon with great weather to scout some more.

Recommend the IEP land up off Day Mt. Spokane road. You need a permit to hunt on the land and there is no overnight camping. You can pick up a permit from Whites Boots by the Spokane Fairgrounds. Lots of gobblers up in that area, I shot two birds up their in 3 days of hunting this year, and several in the past.
